"Break Away"

"These works are of the local cottages and natural surroundings around Trutnov in my own dream like twist. The works were started after completing my Diploma of Illustration at NMIT therefore the paintings have a strong illustrative style to them. To me the paintings are relaxing, a nice place to have a break from life’s ups and downs."

"I find inspiration in the obscure features of everyday life, and try my hardest to document them in an interesting and visually stimulating way, with the view of causing the audience to become entranced by my work. Whether or not you become entranced, I hope you gain as much pleasure from viewing my photographs as I did shooting them".

"Survivors"

"The paintings in this show reflect my interest in the potential for simplicity of still life painting illustrated by the works of Chardin, Zuburan and Morandi. The items in the pictures are objects that were part of everyday life in my parent’s and grandparent’s generations whose Australian lives were subjected to far more trouble than in my lifetime. Two world wars, a major depression, drought and diseases did not make life easy. The subject of this show then is the strength and persistence of our families, be they Australian or from other nations, who survived as did the objects in my paintings".

Graeme Dunlop

Originally hailing from Sydney, Graeme now bases himself in sunny Melbourne. His wide variety of interests reflects in his photos, which capture the urban landscapes of the city through to the natural beauty of the Australian bush. His photos have been exhibited in both Sydney and Canberra with works published in both the online space and the ABC’s annual report on social media. As an event photographer, Graeme has shot both bands and DJ events and is currently working with Secret Wars as the official photographer. Self taught with 35mm darkroom process, Graeme has developed a high contrast style with a slant toward black and white imagery.

"Birds of a Feather"

'Lately I have been interested in depicting things that fly, particularly birds. Having recently moved to the sea-side at St Kilda, it is lovely to observe these creatures, wondering what they think of the world. I aim to create a dream-like whimsical quality to my work – encouraging a narrative through titling which draws on commonly referred to ‘bird’ sayings, for example: ‘Birds of a Feather Stick Together’, ‘Leaving the Nest’ and ‘Love Birds’. I enjoy playing with paint and exploring its capabilities, before ‘blocking in’ the subject matter of my work'.

Lynette Dean
"Geta"

Lynette has predominately worked in traditional figurative sculpture. At the Dogs Bar, she is presenting a more contemporary form of expression. The collective works are called “Geta”, a traditional Japanese sandal. The shape of the geta is reworked in an attempt to present a western view of a traditional Japanese product. Her included works also echo ideas of shadow, paper art and reflected colour.

"Experimenta"

"Throughout my artistic studies and career I have mainly concentrated on painting in an abstract or semi-abstract style, experimenting and changing between hardedge and more expressive styles. My work has been a process of experimentation and discovery, relying upon instinct and intuition to obtain results".

"St Kilda, The Centre of the Universe"

"My current exhibition, “St.Kilda the Centre of the Universe” is all about magical mystical St.Kilda in summer twilight. The atmosphere of St.Kilda is captured with vibrant and quirky images. The aim is to bring happiness and brightness into people’s live’s. “St.Kilda the Centre of the Universe” also celebrates the launch of the St.Kildacentric 2011 calendar".
